Repeat Prescriptions

Patients taking regular medication will require repeat prescriptions. The easiest and quickest way to order your repeat prescription is to sign up for online ordering or download the NHS app.

Online Ordering Via SystmOnline

You can request a repeat prescription on-line with SystmOnline via the link at the top of this page. You can request a password from surgery to allow you to access the link, please bring a driving license or passport as proof of identity to reception.

Or Via NHS App

To access this service and request your prescription using the NHS App please click here

These requests are delivered straight to your patient record and are able to be processed more efficiently.

Alternatively when you collect your prescription from the pharmacy, you will receive a new prescription repeat list. You can use this to tick the items required and post in the practice letterboxes. Please make note of whether your items are due for review and available to order. If your review is up to date, and your items are available for issue, your prescription will be sent to your nominated pharmacy electronically 48 working hours after submission.

We do not take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone, for medico-legal reasons, as errors can occur with this method of communication.

Acute Medication & Hospital Discharge Medication

Acute Medication

Any medication that is not a part of your regular repeat prescriptions take slightly longer to process. This is due to your clinician having to check whether it is appropriate to make a further supply. Please allow up to 7 days for us to process these requests or contact you to let you know that you require a follow up appointment.

Hospital Discharge Medication

When you are discharged from hospital you are given a supply of between 10 and 14 days of medication. This allows time for the hospital correspondence to reach us, and be processed. Your records will be updated with any changes in medication doses and strengths, and any further tests to be aranged.

Medication following clinic appointments

If you have an appointment with a secondary care clinician and they wish your GP to prescribe medication as a result of this consultation they will write to us. We aim to process these letters and issue prescriptions FIVE WORKING DAYS FROM RECEIPT OF THE LETTER.

Any treatment that the consultant deems is urgent or should commence within a 5-14 working day period should be supplied by the hospital and the supply will have been given by outpatient services or on a hospital prescription.

Medication reviews

Patients taking repeat medication will be asked to see a clinician at least once a year to review these. A notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

If you have consented to receive sms messages we may send you reminders via this form of communication.

Synchronisation of medication

It is easier for you and for us if all of your medication runs together and you can order it at the same time. Sometimes medication gets out of line because changes have been made out of necessity.

We can issue one off synchronisation prescriptions to bring your medication into line, but to do this we need you to tell us how many tablets you require of each medication. You can do this by filling out an online form, emailing us, or letting us know in writing please ensure to include your name, address, and date of birth.
