Appointments
Appointments System
To make an appointment, please phone the appointment line on 0115 930 1105. If your problem requires urgent attention or if you are acutely ill, you will always be seen on that day, but not necessarily by your own doctor. For routine matters, please arrange to see your own doctor, who will know your medical history. Try and make follow-up appointments well in advance. To enable us to direct you to the most appropriate clinician you will be asked the nature of your problem, if the problem is personal and you do not wish to disclose this, please advise the receptionist.
You can also book/cancel appointments and request repeat prescriptions on-line with the NHS app or SystmOnline via the link at the top of this page.
You can request a password from surgery to allow you to access the link, please bring a driving license or passport as proof of identity to reception.
Urgent Appointments
Urgent/same day appointment requests will usually be dealt with by the triage nurse, who will telephone you to discuss your problem. She is fully trained and will be able to direct you to the most appropriate person; whether that be simple advice over the telephone, being seen by the nurse, or being seen by the doctor.
When using this service please keep your line free for the nurse to contact you.
Sick Children
Please telephone the surgery to book an urgent appointment or advice.
Sick children will always be seen as soon as possible if brought to the surgery (which may well be quicker than a home visit).

Surgeries at The Old Station Surgery are now available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 07:30 and on Saturday mornings from 08:00 – 11:00 (for pre-bookable appointments only).
Extended Hours Hub
Local GP practices are working together to offer patients better access to appointments in Long Eaton and Ilkeston through our Erewash Extended Hours Hubs- that means we are able to offer appointments at a time which is most convenient for you either at Long Eaton Health Centre or Ilkeston Community Hospital.
You can now book appointments in the evenings and at weekends from Monday – Friday, 18:30 – 20:00 and Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The service is also available on Bank Holidays.
Appointments can be booked via the appointment line 0115 9301105.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling 0115 930 1105 and choosing option 3 before 11am
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Late Arrivals for Appointments
The practice will, as far as practicable, see patients who arrive late. However if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment you may be asked to re-book your appointment, or asked to wait, but this may be until the end of surgery and will therefore involve a considerable wait.
It is generally inappropriate to delay patients who have arrived on time to accommodate earlier patients who have arrived late, however where an opportunity develops (for example where an earlier patient has been seen quickly and the GP/Practice Nurse becomes “ahead of time”) it may be possible to see a late arrival in the gap.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
We ave a dedicated line for cancelling apointment by calling 0115 930 1105 and choosing option 2 This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Opening Times
Teaching and Training
Our Practice is involved in a training programme for first and second year medical students.
Part of their training is to be attached to a GP Practice for short periods of time. With the patient’s consent they may sit in at consultations. It is important that medical students gain clinical experience. Patients can be assured that the presence of a medical student will not affect the quality of care they receive.
If for any reason you do not wish a medical student to be present during a consultation please advise the doctor.
